HOW IT WORKS

In a cold blast lantern, fresh air circulates between the inside and the outside of the chimney and is warmed up through the pipe system. Fresh air goes through the side pieces, arrives in the burner and supplies the flame with enough oxygen for the combustion. The hot air from the combustion escapes from the chimney.

HOW TO FILL WITH FUEL

Open the tank lid and fill the fuel tank with paraffin. Fill to just under the level of the fuel inlet. Before using the wick needs to soak in the fuel. Wait for 10 minutes to allow the fuel to soak into the wick.

LIGHTING THE LANTERN

Lift the glass globe by pressing down on the lever on the left side of the lantern and hookit in the provided notch. Light the wick, which should stick out of the burner by 1 or 2mm, with a lighter or a match. As soon as the wick starts to burns, slowly put the glass back down using the lever.

ADJUSTING THE WICK

You can adjust the size of the flame by using the rotating knob on the burner. The flame should not flicker or produce soot. The recommended size of the flame is between1.5 & 2 cm. To put out the lantern turn the wick down until the flame goes out. Make sure the flame has fully gone out by extending the wick s again.

Advice: Do not wind the wick in too far.

CLEANING AND CARE INSTRUCTIONS

    • Remove the carbonised part of the wick by cutting it as neatly as possible without allowing it to be frayed.
    • Remove any soot build up from the glass globe after use.
    • Protect the Feuerhand lantern from humidity.

CLEANING THE GLASS GLOBE

The chimney must be lifted up to clean the glass globe. To lift the chimney up by pulling up on the ring on the top of the lantern. The wire frame holding the globe can now be rotated to the side. The globe can now be pulled out from the wire cage.

CHANGING THE WICK

When the glass is lifted, turn the rotating adjusting knob of the burner clockwise and remove the remains of the old wick. Offer up the new wick to the opening and turn the adjusting knob anti clockwise to wind the wick into the lantern.
Net the new wick soak in the paraffin for 10 minutes before lighting your lantern.
