EXOTAC nanoSPARK one-handed fire starter

The EXOTAC nanoSPARK is an ultra-compact, self-contained fire-starting tool designed to create a strong shower of sparks using one hand. Unlike a conventional lighter, it does not contain gas or liquid fuel. Instead, its replaceable flint and specially designed spark wheel ignite prepared tinder or a suitable camp stove.

An O-ring-sealed compartment inside the aluminium body holds a piece of tinder, helping to keep essential fire-starting material dry, protected and ready for use. This combination of ignition and tinder storage makes the nanoSPARK a practical choice for everyday carry, camping, bushcraft, survival kits and emergency preparedness.

How does the nanoSPARK work?

The nanoSPARK uses a replaceable flint pressed against a toothed metal wheel. Rotating the wheel produces sparks that can ignite fine, high-surface-area tinder such as EXOTAC quickLIGHT.

Unscrew the nanoSPARK body to access the stored tinder.
Remove a small piece of tinder and pull or tease it apart to expose fine fibres.
Place the prepared tinder on a stable, fire-resistant surface.
Position the spark wheel close to the prepared tinder.
Rotate the wheel firmly to direct sparks into the fibres.
Once the tinder catches, transfer the flame carefully to your prepared fire or stove.

Practise before relying on the nanoSPARK in an emergency. As with any fire-starting tool, good tinder preparation is essential, particularly in cold, damp or windy conditions.

Replacement flints and tinder

The nanoSPARK is designed for long-term use rather than disposal when the flint becomes worn. The dedicated EXOTAC nanoSPARK Flint Kit provides replacement flints and O-rings for routine maintenance.

Replacement EXOTAC quickLIGHT tinder is also available separately. Check the O-rings periodically and replace them if they become damaged, flattened or worn.
